Fuckin' Oprah!

I don't mean "fuckin' Oprah" like I am literally fucking her...I mean I'm mad as shit at Oprah.

If you're alive on the plant earth, you probably know that I'm just DYING for a KitchenAid mixer. I'd take any of them, but really, I want the "Pro" 5 quart 425 watt one in white or stainless steel.

Since I recently moved and still don't have a job, I have not been able to buy one in time for the holidays. I've been toying with the idea of just opening a Macy's account so I can get one. But you know what? I can find it cheaper online so I just need to come up with the cash!

I need a job is what I really need.

But today, on Oprah's "favorite things" show, she gave away KitchenAid mixers to her whole audience. Yep, just handed em out like it was no big deal. Waving it in front of my face with no heart! Hear ye, hear ye, this just in: Oprah has a heart of stone!

She also gave away a $3800 LG refrigerator to the audience too. Ho hum!

At least I have a job interview tomorrow!

The Menu

Thursday will be my first Thanksgiving as a resident of California. I'd show you my new driver's license just to prove it but I don't have a scanner. And speaking of my driver's license, I look deeply tan in the picture, which we all know is a farce...But it's like "hey, welcome to California, here's your new license, complete with a Baywatch tan!"

Since Jeff's parents will be camping or something for the holiday, we decided to make a feast just for the two of us anyway. Errr, I decided. I've prepared Thanksgiving before, but never the way I plan to do it this year. With the help of my good friend Martha, and The Food Network, I'm making everything from scratch. I have so much to do, that I'm actually going to start cooking today. But not to fear! I bought easy-to-prepare backups just in case I fuck everything up!

In case you need a little inspiration, here is what my menu looks like:

Perfect Roast Turkey
I plan to do this minus the brine. Too much complicated prep work and the comments people left about the recipe said the brine made it way too salty. I've never brined a turkey before and they've always been pleasantly moist.

















White Wine Gravy
Simple Stuffing -not sure how "simple" it is though...I have some Pepperidge Farm in a bag just in case!
Chive and Garlic Mashed Potatoes
I plan on making my own yams that I improvise every year, probably a 'lil salad too.
Tarragon Green Beans

















Pumpkin Cheesecake

Celine Dion is a Pretty Good Actress

The weird thing about The Today Show, is that when they have musicians on the show to perform in their studio, there's no audience. It makes it really awkward for the viewer and I'm guessing the artist as well; so they're just performing for the camera-people and Matt Lauer. But this morning Celine Dion was on. Wow, she is skinny. Anyway, she really got into it. I mean, she was winking to the non-existent audience and ad-libbing little pseudo erotic phrases in her "sexy" speaking voice like "would that be so bad?" All I'm really saying here, is that she can really pull the rug over one's eyes!

The Big Shoe Diaries: Part II

I was just completely validated. I've written before about coming to terms with the size of my feet.
Now it seems, there are more people coming out of the closet about their size. Before today, I thought I could only identify with Paris Hilton's size 11. But I just got word that both Whoopi Goldberg AND Kate Winslet wear an 11 too. And the best part is, Kate Winslet is only 5'6". What can I say? It just made me happy.

It's been a few weeks since I've posted anything, but really, I've just been waiting until our couch comes to post pictures of it! After a month of pretty much doing everything from our bed, as of this morning we finally have a place to sit!

It's hard to tell, but the walls went from stark white to a warm, light brown/beige. We still need to put up our art and a fluffy Flokati rug will complete the room. Now we're not sequestered to our bedroom and my friends, is grand!

In other news from Sac-Town:

I still don't have a job, but have applied to many, many a jobs.

We got two trick-or-treaters on Halloween.

There is a TCBY down the street and their soft serve white chocolate mousse with rainbow sprinkles has been keeping my energy up!

My days are a little on the boring side for now since I'm not working...I get up in the mornings, do some job hunting, maybe go tanning, explore a little, wait for Jeff to get home so we can go to the gym, make dinner, and do it all over again.
