Even the Candy is Bigger in Texas

Jeff was in Texas for work earlier this week and brought me back these giant jelly beans. It's hard to tell their size in the picture, but let me just say that the orange ones look like baby carrots. Bigger doesn't mean better in this case though. After tasting one I knew they weren't real special.

Rachel: You got these at the airport didn't you?

Jeff: Yes.

I'm no stranger to having my feet in stirrups. When I was little I rode horses competitively for years. Besides the once in a while annoying pinch on your inner calf, I'd say all the blue and sometimes red (that's 5th place) ribbons made it totally worth it.

Unfortunately though, my feet have seen too many of the "other" sort of stirrups. The cold, sterile ones at the end of a medical table. I've been having some "womens' health" issues for the last year or so and have had more visits to the gynecologist than anyone should. After every appointment, I breath a sigh of relief and hope for the best, but the worst keeps happening.

Well today, as I was having part of my cervix cauterized, feet in stirrups for 20 minutes, I started thinking about whether or not I could handle having kids. After only a few minutes in the stirrups my knees started to shake and I would have done anything to get that fucking giant speculum out of my vaginal canal. How am I going to feel when I have a head and shoulders making it's way through the same small space for hours on end (or however long it takes)? I realize I'll be somewhat numb, but having your feet up like that is just not natural.

Women are brave. Very brave.

Well, yes, I am breathing my sigh of relief for now.

It's all Happening so Fast *Sniffle*

Psych!

My move couldn't be happening faster. As I write this, I'm looking out the window and it's stormy and grey and windy. I turn on the news and the forecast is rain for the next 5 days (Not sure what's up with Friday but it probably won't happen). I'm not going to miss this:

Speaking of Iran

When I was doing my study abroad in Italy in 2002, I lived in a beautiful apartment with 5 girls. None of us really got along. We were all very different and had to share one bathroom. But the worst of all was this girl, lets call her Princess Brandywine Dandyridge* (just for shits and giggles). Princess Brandywine Dandyridge* was a Persian American. Every time she talked about being Iranian, she would always correct us and say, "excuse me, it's Eeeeee-rahn, not I-ran!." So just to tease her, I'd always sing her this Flock of Seagulls song "I Ran." Let's take a listen and then get to the real point of the story:

Cut to Saturday Night Live this weekend and look how they paid homage to the president of Iran's controversial q&a session at Columbia. I'm not sure if it's better than "Dick in a Box," but it's up there, and I can help but think I had the idea first! And yes! That's the Maroon 5 dude.

Beverly Hills- What a Thrill!

A few weeks ago I took Sandi to see one of the BEST BANDS EVA, Rilo Kiley (singer Jenny Lewis also happened to star in one of my favorite movies of all time Troop Beverly Hills). Anyway, I guess I hadn't been to a show in a while. Remember when you used to see the flicker of all the lighters swaying back and forth? Not so much anymore. Since you can't smoke inside any venues, all you see is the sea of light from the LCD screens of all the digital cameras. But it makes sense. Now I can relive my experience and watch this gem from the Showbox over and over and over!
